These standards are simple plastic shims certified for thickness from 0.25 mils (6.25 microns) to 60 mils (1500 microns). These are used to calibrate eddy current and magnetic induction gauges typically used to measure non-metallic coatings on steel and non-ferrous substrates (e.g, paint, anodize, lacquers etc). Calibration is achieved by laying these shims onto the blank base metal found in the samples to be tested.
